This is one of the first of Rob’s songs that I ever heard, and it’s been a standard of my repertoire from the very beginning. It seemed strange to make it the title track (it being the only one I wasn’t involved in writing), but I think it fits perfectly. The string quartet accompaniment is, incidentally, one of only two arrangements on this album that I actually wrote, all the other stuff on the album are guided improvisations. (The other one I wrote out is the coda of “In This Moment” – you can’t really expect a choir to improvise something like that, after all).
