 .:Martyr of the Moon (listen):.

I heard that the full moon can make you go mad.
Does it have that kind of power? I wish it had.
But now it only sheds a dreary light
On the bars and the gallows and all else in sight.

Tonight no voices are crying, no winds are sighing, no night-birds flying.
But they say that the full moon can make you go mad.

Now unicorns will stand by turquoise waters
Where they are bathed by sultans’ virgin daughters,
And singing birds retreat into the shadows
While soldiers shake and surge in foreign battles.

But now vintage wine is galling, ravens are calling, axes are falling,
And I know that the full moon can make you go mad.

Somewhere a hooded figure stops and listens.
A scythe will sigh in rusty reminiscence,
And singing beasts retreat into the shadows,
While soldiers shake and surge in foreign battles.

And all things we know will remain, clean and sane, not a stain.
But I wish that the full moon could make me go mad.

-Marco Klaue

(If we had done a better recording of this, it might be my favorite of all my songs. You’ll notice the influence of “Type O Negative” and of “Altiplano”.)
