I’m not sure how long this idea sat (in the form of a few messy verses) in one my notebooks, before I found music for it. Here I see myself strongly influenced by Radiohead, Neil Young, and the French Impressionists (you laugh, but some of the harmonies are similar to what you’d find in Debussy). It’s yet another re-telling of the classic experience of noticing that for every victory on one front, you incur losses on all others.
