What I like:
-I like most of my lyrics, though of course I’m too close to them to form an objective opinion. I like the melodies, especially Rob’s.
-I like the variety of styles but the individual personality through them. “Settled Again” could pass for bluegrass, “Pascal’s Wager” resembles bossa nova, “Among the Dead” might be re-worked into an effective heavy metal song, etc. We’re never really truly authentic to any one style, except that we inevatibly sound like us.
-I like the sense of energy and roughness. Probably a little too rough, but the songs hang together well.
-I like the interaction of instruments in songs like “This is Me” and “White Like Me.”

What I don’t like:
-I don’t like my voice; it is inaccurate, insecure, and way too far forward in the mix.
-I don’t like that the project was so hurried. Many poor takes stayed in because there wasn’t enough time to record new ones. Time constraints also kept us from finding our way together as a band, and the rhythm often stumbles and we repeatedly fail to establish or maintain a groove.
-I don’t like the lyrics to two of the songs: “This is Me” (the repeated questions get really annoying) and “Pascal’s Wager” (it crosses the line into pretentious pseudo-philosophy a couple of times).

Conclusion: I’d do it again, and invest some more time into rehearsing and recording better takes. Maybe find a voice coach. I’d also have it mastered.
